Using the Scrapemaker tool and scents has definitely proven to be effective in all phases of the deer hunting season. In early October we used the tool and scents to place mock scrapes and rubs in key areas of property we hunt. The result was more buck sightings and a dramatic increase in territorial sign by dominate bucks from all around! This bow hunt took place on Dec. 23. Although this is a full month after the peak rut, post rutting was still evident. We decided to set up a in a staging area just as a front moved through. I laid a secret  trail of both Dominant Buck and Fresh Hot Doe in a runway that contained a fresh rub line on trees 12" in diameter. I then continued the scent rail around my tree stand to a primary scrape area and place a mock scrape next to a day old scrape. After about an hour a 2 1/2  year old 8 point came into the area investigated the scent trail I laid, made a rub and then bedded down wind of the mock scrape, showing approval and interest of the Scrapemaker scents. Around 3:30 in afternoon after a series of grunts, the dominant buck with a massive rack came in to check out the area. He followed the scent trail perfectly searching for the intruding buck. As he attempted to chase off a smaller buck, he offered me a clear shot. The buck went 75 yards and expired! With the help of the Scrapemaker I ended my season with a great Pope and Young buck.
